"Rooms"
Good location, close to pubs eateries and shopping centre. Friendly, helpful staff, only issue was rooms were nothing like what was advertised on site, very basic and small shower think hotel could do with lick of paint and new carpets, but beds were comfy and tea coffee kettle iron and board all in room - no hairdryer. Would most likely stay again 128077;

"Happy except for noisy machine at night. Probably air conditioning unit. "
I like the location and am grateful for advance information. Totally lacking from hotel l am going to next. Comfortable well equipped. Just one big problem. Loud noisy machine outside. Could reduce noise by shutting window but then had too little air. Appreciate you need such a thing and may be difficult to locate it at a historic building. Did sleep but a bit fitfully. Otherwise, many thanks to staff. Discrete but helpful.

"Location"
Stayed here for 1 night in room 10 which had 3 single beds ideal for our stay. Greeted by a very charming and friendly young man on reception As this hotel is above the pub it did have some noise the worst being the empty bottles being tipped into the skip at intervals.The location was perfect for shopping and Phones 4u arena only 5 mins walk and the Cathedral was on the doorstep. The building itself is very old with sloping floors walls etc and needs a lot of TLC but clean enough with comfy beds.Lovely staff cooking and serving breakfast.Very basic hotel and even tho i have stayed in the Portland twice before i would stay at this hotel again.

"Share the shower with the room above!"
Room very basic! Thought it was raining but it was the room above showering, this leaked into my bathroom and bath! It was cheap but a embarrassment! Advise never to stay there!
