"Where do I plug the hair dryer in?"

Lovely hotel in a good position, unfortunately no car park so an exorbitant £23 for valet parking. The staff are polite and well informed, the bedrooms large, comfortable and well appointed, the buffet breakfast lots of choice and unusually (for a buffet) the food was hot but not over cooked. However... when will hotel chains allow women to design bedroom layout? Although a hair dryer is provided there is no socket near a mirror making it difficult to use, the best lighting is in the bathroom but difficult to apply make up when your partner is using the shower. This could be rectified by putting a light above the bedroom mirror with a power socket on the wall underneath, not much to ask for!!

"Enjoyed our stay but you could pay more attention to detail. "

At breakfast the tea supplied is really aweful - no one came to the table to see what we required and I had to go and find a member of staff. The tea arrived in a thermos flask and was not fresh but stewed and a grey colour (the worst i have had). We asked for a reading lamp to be fixed as the bulb had blown - it took 2 days for it to be actioned and we had to ask twice. The maid arrived at 5.15 one day to do the room, we had just arrived back after a busy day out and just wanted to relax - surely the rooms should have been completed before quests are expected back later in the afternoon so they can get ready for the evening entertainment.I forgot to get my Club Carlson points added on to my card - can this be done retrospectively?Otherwise we enjoyed our stay and had a good time in Bristol.Many thanksLouise

Nice hotel but found the night reception guy to be very rude and the doorman on the front door threatening to kick you out on the street if you question his attitude

"Great view"

They gave us a business class room despite paying a very low price via hoteldirect.co.uk, room was on floor 16 of 17 with floor to ceiling window. Beautiful view right across the city. Hotel is in a great location and we really enjoyed our stay.

"very good and friendly hotel. modern rooms and very clean and tidy."

visited Bristol for the weekend and had reserved a standard room for the night. Great view of the harbour from the 14th floor. This is my second visit to this hotel and I will certainly be visiting again

"great postion, booking requirements not met"

After researching on the internet we found this hotel had triple rooms with 3 full size single beds, I even phoned to check and was reassured that this was the case so I booked months in advance. However when we checked in we were given a room with a double bed and a child sized camp bed I complained and was moved to and identical room. I was told that they did have the triple rooms I phoned about but they were all fully booked. We had to stay in the second room which really wasnt suitable as my friend who is 5`2" had to sleep in a bed with her feet hanging out over the end. We were extremely disappointed as we had been looking forward to it for ages.

"Helpful staff and great breakfast !! Clean and comfortable rooms"

only problem was I booked through website of Hotel Direct and was told 2pm check in, so when we arrived our rooms were not ready as was told it was 3pm check in ????bit annoying but staff accommodating and helpful, needs to be clearer !

"Minor issues that prevented an `excellent` rating."

Pluses: Location is fabulous; Very good accommodation and facilities; Free wi-fi access; Courteous and helpful staff at all levels.Negatives: Expensive parking despite NCP discount; Billed for newspapers despite advertised as complimentary; Very good breakfast but 1 `steam driven` toaster is totally inadequate for guest numbers - very surprised as everything else in the dining room is very well thought out. Overall - verging on `excellent` with minor criticisms, and will stay again..

"Welcoming,efficent and relaxing stay in wonderful central location."

Friendly efficent staff.Great location ideal for all the main sights of Bristol,particularly the Hippodrome.Clean and comfortable.Valet parking good although a bit pricey.Excellant breakfast,all the food was of a very high standard and cooked really well.Would definately stay again.

"Most impressed with the staff - polite, efficient, helpful, nothing was too much trouble."

We were very happy with our business class room. A broken sink plug, missing shower control button and disfunctional scales were fixed immediately upon notification. Room service we thought was excellent also and very sensibly priced. The only issue really was the lift. It was very quick if no one else called for it but we were on the 16th floor and with only one lift operating it sometimes took a while to get up and down. However, the lasting impression was of a very pleasant couple of days due in the main to the high quality of care provided by your top class staff.

"absolutely wonderful night "

I booked this hotel based on the reviews i had read. I am so glad i did because the hotel gorgeous, our room was clean and very comfortable and the bed so comfy neither of us wanted to leave it and the bathroom was also lovely. hotel is perfectly situated for some lovely restaurants and bars and so all in all i can`t wait to go back! Brilliant and lovely staff topped off a lovely break away :-)

"Great location"

Couldn`t have picked better for location. We were in Bristol for a concert and the venue was 5 minutes away. Also a stones throw from the harbour with all its riverside cafes and restaurants. Good quality breakfast with lots of choice. Bedrooms very comfortable and spacious - contemporary decor, what`s not to like. Would not hesitate to return.

"Good location, smart hotel, good breakfast, no parking!"

Stayed for one night to go to Colston Hall for a concert. As far as the location goes it was ideal as it was only 200m from the venue. Its also across the road from the theatre and harbour area and a 5 minute walk to the main shopping centre. The hotel only has 8 spaces in its carpark so you have to park in the street on a meter or NCP carpark 200m away which cost £17 for 24 hours.

"Good hotel but not outstanding"

Negative comments: 1. Service in restaurant very poor. 2. Service in bar poor. 3. lighting in bedrooms poor.4. Bedroom very cramped and poorly designed(105).5.Poor signage eg stairwell on 1st floor led nowhere 6. building works not completed.7. no soap in dispenser in gentst on toilet on grround floor. Reception staff excellent -breakfast very good.

great room, nice view, great location - would recommend for business travellers- nespresso machine probably needs a clear instruction that if you choose a larger serving you should use a larger cup than those provided- breakfast plates a little too hot - most guests had to use napkins to hold - might pay to turn down the platewarmer a little!
