"Excellent stay just the breakfast lets them down"

Reception staff excellent on both check in and check out couldn`t of been more helpful.Stayed in a premium room, it was ok, the bed was big and comfy, clean and tidy, nice touch would of been to have water in the room with the price paid.The only disappointment was the breakfast, the staff not quite up to the reception staff level, I had one that answered me `whatever` and 3 senior members seemed to be holding a meeting near us. Regarding the food, the porridge was cold as was some of the other items under the hot stove, also even though the restaurant wasn`t busy nothing seemed to be re-filled very quickly, had to wait for bread and fruit. Highly recommend the omelet man. Overall would stay here again but go out for breakfast

stayed at the barbican xxxxx and must say after reading some of the previous reviews found the staff very polite the room clean and the breakfast good overall had a pleasant stay and just a five minute walk from the tube

"Room was of average standard/dated, but hotel was ok overall"

We had a premium double room with ensuite which seemed pretty small. The furniture was dated and the skirting and radiator were shabby. The room was clean and tidy if a little tired in terms of decor. The bathroom was fine. There is not much room for two people if you are getting ready. No sockets next to the bed to charge phones, only on the dresser area. breakfast was nice, buffet and we had full English and you could have a much as you wanted. The hotel desk staff were good, but they left my partner off the room booking so it was an issue at breakfast to get it included for two. The Assistant Manager at the spa was extremely rude. There is no notice to say they charge for extra towels. After telling me to put wet towels in the dirty wash, they then told me I had to pay for a new one. When I said I had no cash on me (I was in my swim wear), I was told to get my wet towel out of the wash bin where it had been with other dirty towels. Wouldn`t rush back there.

The hotel was well placed and the staff very friendly, if there were criticisms they were that the double rooms were about a third smaller than the twin rooms and there were long queues for breakfast

all you could ask for, little further from center than expected but not a problem, 30 minute queue to get into restaurant for breakfast due to 700 + occupancy Saturday night, quality of hotel and food was very good.

We arrived on Saturday and welcomed by a charming Spanish girl who is a credit to your staff, we cannot praise her enough.We will definitely be using your Hotel again we just cannot fault the facilities, food service or accommodation. "Lovely Place"

The Staff and the hotel was really good, but the room that we were in was too hot, air con too noisy to keep on, the food was of a really good standard but cold, breakfast and evening meal.

Room was lovely and beds comfortable. Only criticism is that no walk-in shower in twin rooms. As I am disabled this was a slight problem but I had my daughter to help me.Breakfast was wonderful - no other comment to make on that!All staff were polite and helpful. Thank you for a very pleasant stay.

"Lovely but busy"

The hotel is very lovely, all the staff we encountered were courteous and efficient. The only possible criticism would be the queue for breakfast on Sunday morning. It took a while to get seated even though there were plenty of empty tables, the staff were working as hard as they could to get people seated quickly but the queue was a big when we came out as it was when we went in. Possibly another couple of staff to cover the peak time would have helped. Having said that the breakfast was lovely, great choice and very freshly cooked. All in all a great hotel and we would definitely stay here again

great hotel, perfect location for the places we wanted to visit. room very comfortable and staff very helpful. especially the concierge. breakfast was excellent. didn`t use the spa, thro lack of time but it looked super. If we visit again, will certainly use more of the facilities. whole package very good.

"amazing honeymoon break"

Had an a amazing honeymoon weekend, staff are so friendly had such a relaxing amazing time, close to subway so really easy get about london. defo be back if ever in london again, thankyou to elisa for our complimentary champagne :) x

"Good room close to City Road"

Hotel was surprisingly large and well done out. What was great about it was it was 24/7 so you could check in whenever you wanted. Breakfast also ended at a very sociable 11am and checkout was not until 12pm. Lovely!

"Lovely public areas but room not up to par"

A "Hidden Gem", we expected a 4* room in a 3* hotel. Although nothing "wrong" with it, the room was disappointing. When I asked I was told the "premium" was as it was in the main building, bigger and more modern than standard double. The décor was dated with old wooden furniture; blue/yellow fabric circa 1990`s and certainly no bigger than a standard double (although I didn`t check). I was offered the chance to view another room but for one night it wasn`t worth the move. Breakfast was fab! Overall worth the money we paid.

Stayed at this hotel last year and the room I stayed in was far better than this time even though it was supposed to be 4 star. However that said great hotel great staff and breakfast was well worth the money, overall superb hotel.

For the rate I paid via Hotel Direct I wasn`t expecting much from the xxxxx Barbican. When I arrived the reception greeting was quick warm and friendly. Room was small and very clean. And the breakfast staff were very welcoming.The full english wasn`t bad either. Good value . Would stay again.

Staff were helpful, even charged my mobile phone when I lost my charger. The room was well equipped, clean with good ventilation yet quiet. The breakfast choice was extensive and well presented although the meat sausages were served with the same tongs as the vegetarian sausages!

room very clean. no running hot water on day one. quickly rectified. day 2 no hot water. was told to `just run the tap` 30 minutes later hot water. a lot of wasted water. hairdryer was not working, quickly rectified. staff courteous and helpful. need to sort out their water supply

"Greasy service"

This hotel was a lovely surprise by my husband and it couldn`t have been more perfect. Great service, clean professional and helpful through out. Easy parking. Highly recommended.
