"One night stay, July 2017"
On arrival at our room I found that the bed base was broken, I reported this to the gentleman at reception and as we had to go out for the evening he said he would sort it while we were out. On arrival back to our room we found that he had changed the base, leading to a comfortable night.He was most helpful. The continental breakfast was very good, the only down side was we found the room was on the small side for 3 adults.

"You get what you pay for"
The best point about the hotel was the staff who were all very helpful and polite. I cannot fault them at all. The room, however, was very tired. We were in a ground floor room with disabled bathroom facilities (although we did not need them). The shower screen was broken, toilet flush faulty, there was no lock on the main room door, paint peeling, stained carpet, blankets instead of duvet and definitely NOT anything like the room featured on the website. A bit of a let down really but then we didn`t pay the earth for it and were only there to sleep.

Curtains hanging off. Tap lever broken. Toilet seat broken. Mould in shower. TV not working properly very small room for the double...no quilts just sheets and blankets...en suite ridiculously tiny...why a third bed in both rooms?

Double room was very small and boiling hot, had to have the fan on constantly, basic hotel! On the plus side was a good location for travel etc!

Room had recently been decorated as the masking tape from the painting had been left in a ball in the bathroom, there was paint stains all over the bedroom carpet. The light fitting was hanging out of the ceiling in the bathroom, which happened to be the only one that was working. Finally who uses blankets in hotels in this day and age!!!! Definitely wouldn`t go back.

"Good value"
Generally good overall in an excellent location. Minor issues with room included a lack of a chair, meaning guests use the bed as a seat... Therefore one side of the mattress was worn down making for an uncomfortable nights sleep. It would have been great if there was a coat hook near the door. Breakfast was good/plentiful and the staff were courteous.

Very quiet hotel for its location. Given its location. 4 mins from tube station ten mins from science museum. Friendly staff and the room has the basics you need as you enjoy the capital

Staff really friendly. Nice quiet location away from traffic noise and easy access to tube. Although mild at the moment, it would be nice to have a duvet rather than a sheet and blankets. I appreciate the hygiene behind this decision. I only stayed one brief night so can`t really comment any further.

My 7 year old daughter arrived at the hotel a bit late as we got lost but I have to say that the lady on the front desk (sorry didnt think to take her name) was so so nice as I was a bit stressed, she was just so pleasant to both my daughter and myself, she included my daughter in our conversation and was extremely helpful - We were very pleasently surprised when she told us that our room had been upgraded, my daughter was very impressed, the room was very pleasant and spacious, the hotel is well worth another visit.

we were given a room in the basement which smelt of sewerage very strongly,on complaining we were offered a room on the 4th floor which was so small one of us would have had to climb over the other to get in and out of bed and seeing as we are both in our late sixties this was not an option,so we asked if we could have some air fresheners put in the room which didn`t materialise.The smell was quite nauseating and we bought our own air freshener and had to keep the extractor fan on constantly,although this had little effect.Also,the carpet was in shreds where it was joined,there was no plug in the basin,the remote control on the television didn`t work ,there was a thin blanket for the bed which you had to put on yourself and the room was in general very shabby with dirty walls and numerous cobwebs adorning them. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room was clean but basic. Bed mattress needed changing room 103. Shower room was excellent. Towels fresh and plentiful. Breakfast was basic. Girls did great job keeping everything supplied. On the whole a basic hotel but clean tidy and friendly. Would use again.

We had booked a double room by mistake but when we arrived the lady was able to change this to a family room. This consisted of a double and a single bed which was more suitable for my daughter and myself. Room was clean and tidy, tea and coffee facilities and was very close to Gloucester tube station. Very easy access to get around too. Staff very polite and helpful. Had a good night sleep and continental breakfast was sufficient to start the day off.

Rooms changed at last minute despite having been booked for months. Manager made it sound like he was doing US a favour. Dirty blankets. Very small shower and water scalding hot. Rooms depressing. Breakfast like a youth hostel set up. We will not be staying again.

"Avoid........."
On arrival we were told there was no double available, even though booked, but we were `upgraded` to a triple that was in the basement, Room B3. So here goes, tiny shower room, no air, unable to open windows as on front and noise from street invasive, right next to staff entrance and exit which they used at all hours and didn`t care when `banging` it shut, adjacent to breakfast room, starting at 06:30. Breakfast awful, no organisation just a free for all, cheap sliced bread, cheap sliced meat??, cheap sliced cheese?? The only good thing to say is that it was clean.

"Clean and basic, but no duvets ????"
Hotel is clean and comfortable but basic. We stayed for 2 nights in a triple room. We were surprised to find the beds only had sheets on and no duvets or top covers ?? I have never known an hotel not provide duvets or at least a top cover before. On top of the wardrobe there was a couple of brown blankets that we could have used but chose not to as they had obviously been in use before. We had to sleep with the heating on full to keep warm. Also the shower base was smooth and didnt have any grip, needless to say the first time I used it I slipped and hurt my shoulder. I told them at reception and suggested they put up warning notices up or put a non slip mat in. They apologised but said it`s the first time anybody had complained and didn`t feel the need to act on my suggestion.... All in all a clean budget hotel that lacks some of the essentials and customer service could be better.

"A good hotel, clean & comfortable in a good location."
We enjoyed our stay at the Avni Kensington. It was clean, well maintained & provided good value for money for a Hotel located in the Kensington area. The room had all we needed for a comfortable stay & although the continental breakfast wasn`t very exciting, it was perfectly adequate for the price paid. I would recommend this hotel & stay there again.

there was a problem with the shower in room 510, it would not stop dripping which was annoying, but the main problem with it was that it only give out very hot water which was dangerous and a heath and safety issue. The lock on the door to the en-suite was broken also.
