"Excellent location"
We had an overnight stay at this hotel and were very impressed by the central location, right in the heart of the city.Shops and restaurants were very close by. The room was clean but rather cramped. Breakfast was excellent and the staff very attentive and polite.

Hotel staff were very professional which compensated a little for the room which was very small, rather tired but clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very good and we would stay there again in the future if the price was right.

" A few niggles!"
We stayed in room 734 on the top floor. When we entered the room we weren`t impress to find a room with an adjoining door, but thought that it won`t be that bad, would it!!!!!!!!!! Yes at 3.30 am the two girls came in from their night out. Talking at the top of their voices, so it seemed at that time of the night.The taps in the bathroom sure need some attention as the water is slow running. We have stayed in the Thistle Hotel in London and that was much better room.We have stayed in many hotels around the world and was really looking forward to staying at this hotel to celebrate our anniversary, that was fine and even the staff were very attentive at breakfast. The only thing that let`s this hotel down are the rooms.

Red light kept flashing on the ceiling, which was pretty annoying and tv didn`t work. Everything else was great though.

"Decent staff,excellent breakfast"
Enjoyable stay,only 1gripe,noise from the outside air con unit kept me awake for some of the night,my wife had to wear ear plugs that happened to be in the room but there were only 1 set,don`t think that was very good really,outside of that I would stay there again probably!

Nice tidy Hotel but the standard room was very small and on the night we stay very loud guests going to and from their rooms during the night as well as hearing them talk in their room!!Good Location, good food, very tidy and good staff.

"One night stay"
The room was excellent, and we had a very good nights sleep, I had stayed in the Mercure in January and we had to be moved rooms due to the noise of the buses, trams and people so I would definately recommend this hotel.

"Comfortable Hotel"
Stayed at The Portland Thistle 23rd January and found the check in staff very helpful. We arrived early at about 12pm and double room booked was not yet available but was offered a twin roon that was available so opted for that. Room clean and comfortable if a bit on the small size (have stayed in he Thistle Euston and room bigger) but as we were not spending much time there so this was not a problem. did not use the pool or gym and did not have time to check it out so cannot comment on the facilities. Would definately consider staying again as within very easy distance of station and if needed shopping area

"Very small room"
Very small room with windows that were virtually impossible to open to get some fresh air in! Bathroom somewhat shabby and in need of refurbishment. Spa facilities again shabby and in need of serious updating!!! Staff were helpful and accommodating. I think if I`d paid full price for the room I think that we`d have been ripped off, given the Hotel Direct price for the room and the fact that I only stayed the one night, can`t really complain

"Good convenient location"
We chose the hotel because of its location which was superb. However the room was poky with a miniscule bathroom and no tea making facilities!!! Even a £19 travelodge room provides these. Even when I had remade the bed to even out the lumps in the sheet and mattress cover, it was still quite uncomfortable. Adequate for an overnight stay but I would not have liked to have stayed any longer in this room

"lovely hotel"
Even though my stay was short the staff were very helpful, if there is any critism it would be on my day of departure one of your lifts was not working,my friend was a pregnant lady and due to the amount of people vacating the hotel we had to walk down the steps which was not ideal however this was not a major issue

The staff are all very friendly and extremely helpful. Room was very clean with air conditioning which you could alter to suit yourself.

"Lovely clean and comfortable modern hotel with good facilities"
Internet access prices out the non business traveller, very expensive. Staff were friendly but I was misinformed about what was included so ended up having to pay £15 for eggs on toast, more expensive than my evening meal! Best sleep I have had in a hotel ever, comfy bed, well equipped room, a little on the small side.

Nothing much wrong with it if it charged a third of the price it charges currently. £100 for single occupancy of a poky, dingy room with a double bed, no central heating and a very outdated bathroom is nothing less than excessive overpricing.

Overall happy with our stay and it was a perfect location. The rooms were on the small, cramped side, but given we mostly needed a bed and shower it was ok. The one thing that will make us go elsewhere will be the lack of free wifi and poor network access. We will look first at Mercure, Malmaison and HiltonDoubletree for our next visit first, and if they have similar deals, go there first because of this. For me free wifi is an essential/mandatory not a paid upgrade.

Great location, car parking around the corner at the Grand (get the ticket stamped for a discount), All staff were v nice, rooms clean (not huge, but more than big enough). V nice breakkie. Would defo stay again. If there was a downside, like a lot of hotels it was hot in the morning.

"Lovely Hotel"
I stayed here with friends for a Saturday night. The hotel was clean and beds were comfortable.If anything the rooms were a little small with there not being much room between the end of the bed and the wall to walk past. Otherwise I would recommend the hotel for you weekend away.
