Situated in the centre of Barrow in Furness, the Holiday Inn Express is an ideal base from which to tour the surrounding area. Within 20 minutes drive of the hotel is the Lake District National Park, with it`s 12 lakes and stunning scenery. Lake Windemere is approximately 1 hour by car as are other popular towns such as Kendall and Ambleside. The town is also surrounded by many beaches on the Barrow Peninsula and Morecambe Bay. Small islands in the bay such as Piel Island with a castle and a pub can be easily accessed by ferry which is 15 minutes drive from the hotel.

Getting there:

BY TRAIN: By taxi it is approximately 4 minutes by taxi from Barrow-in-Furness railway station. On foot it is approximately 15 minutes. Walk south on Station Approach towards Holker Street. Turn left onto Holker St and then right onto Abbey Rd. After 0.1 miles turn left onto Dalton Rd and then after 0.4 miles turn right towards Duke Street and then continue on to turn right onto Duke Street. Turn left onto Market Street and the hotel will be on the left.
BY CAR: From M65 exit at Junction 2 for Manchester/Chorley/L`caster/M6/B`pool/M55. At Clayton Brook Interchange, take the 4th exit onto the M61 slip road to Lancaster /M6. After 0.9 miles merge onto M61 and after a further 1.1 miles merge onto M6. Continue for 36.9 miles and then at junction 36, exit towards A590. After 0.2 miles keep left at the fork and merge onto A590. Continue for 3.2 miles and use the left lane to take the A590 slip road to Barrow/Milnthorpe/A6 and at the roundabout take the 1st exit onto A590. After 5.9 miles at Meathop Roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Lindale Byp/A590. Continue to follow this route and at Newby Bridge Roundabout, take the 1st exit and stay on A590. After 4.9 miles at Greenodd Roundabout, take the 1st exit and stay on A590. After 2.9 miles at Booths Roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Canal St/A590. After 0.5 miles at Tank Square Roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto County Rd/A590. Keep left to continue onto Lightburn Rd/A590 and then continue straight to stay on Lightburn Rd/A590. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Ulverston Rd/A590 and after 2 miles at Dalton Roundabout take the 2nd exit onto A590. After 1 mile at Elliscale Roundabout, take the 2nd exit and stay on A590. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Park Rd/A590 and continue for 3.5 miles. At Craven Park Roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Hindpool Rd/A5087 and then go through one roundabout. Turn left onto Market St and the hotel will be on the right.
