Hotel and location:

Located in Old Shire Hall, which once housed university offices, the 4* Hotel Indigo Durham retains the buildings ornate Victorian grandeur. Within a short walk are the UNESCO listed cathedral, built in 1093 and the castle which has been part of University College Durham since 1840. The City Centre and railway station are also less than 10 minutes on foot. Visitors to the city should also make time to stroll through the University Botanical Gardens and along the banks of the River Wear. Also popular with visitors are the covered market established in 1851, which is a 5 minute walk from the hotel and the Oriental Museum, approximately 20 minutes away.
