All rooms have flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi, tea & coffee making facilities and hairdryers. The ensuite bathrooms have complimentary toiletries, bathrobes and slippers. Rooms with views across Lake Windermere are available to book. During their stay guests have use of the hotel`s 20 metre indoor swimming pool and fully equipped gym. Relaxing Spa Treatments are also available, these must be booked and paid for directly with the hotel. The Lakeview Restaurant and the Terrace Lounge & Cocktail Bar also offer stunning views offered by the hotel`s great location. Situated on the banks of Lake Windermere, with breath-taking views the Macdonald Old England Hotel & Spa is not only ideal for a relaxing break, but also offers a great location from which to explore the surrounding area. The hotel is a short stroll to Bowness-on-Windemere once a small fishing village which is now a base for water activities and boating. The best way to see the Lake District is from the water and there a numerous tours available. Beatrix Potter World, an interactive exhibition of the characters of the famous books and the relationship to the Lake District is also only 5 minutes walk from the hotel.

Getting there:

BY TRAIN: Windermere Station is approximately 1.5 miles from the hotel, a 7 minute taxi ride.
BY CAR: Heading south om M6, take the M65 exit at junction 29 for Burnley/Blackburn and at the roundabout take the 4th exit onto M6 slip road to M55/Lancaster/B`pool and after 0.4 miles merge onto M6. After 38 miles at junction 36 exit towards A590. Keep left at the fork and merge onto A590. After 3 miles continue onto A591 and follow this route to the next 5.2 miles. At Plumgarths Roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Crook Rd/B5284 and continue for a further 6.3 miles. Turn right onto A5074 and after 0.8 miles turn left onto Lake Rd/A592. Turn right onto Falbarrow Rd and the turn left at the 1st crossroads onto Church Street and the hotel will be on the right.
