The Hotel has impressive panoramic views of Lisbon city as it is located in the historical centre of Old Lisbon which offers visitors charm, character and a friendly atmosphere. The hotel is next to the walls of St. George Castle which was the ancient seat of power for Portugal for over 400 years. For those who are lucky enough to be able to travel in June, then it is well worth going to see the Patron Saint festival and many other fiestas that take place during the month of celebration. Expect dancing, street parades and music roaming through the streets that will truly dazzle, entertain and leave you feeling uplifting. Other must see attractions are Belem Tower, the famous World heritage listed Gothic Monastery Jeronimos and Praca do Comercio which is located in the heat of the city centre. Lisbon also has a number of museums, churches restaurants and bars making this a perfect place for all the family to enjoy.
Getting there:
By Car: The Olissippo Castelo is approximately 8km from Lisbon Airport. From the airport, head west onto Avenue Berlim and then at the roundabout take the 5th exit onto Avenue Afonso Costa and then continue onto Avenue Mal. Francisco da Costa Gomes. At the next roundabout take the 1st Exit onto Antonio Goncalves. Continue onto Praca Paiva Coucerio, and then turn right onto Rua dos Sapadores. Continue onto Largo da Graca and then onto De Sao Vicente. As you continue onto Costa do castelo, you will see the hotel on your left handside.
By Train: The Nearest Tube Station is Martim Moniz - Green Line (fourth when counting from the Alameda Station Red Line, 9th counting from the Airport) and is in Martim Moniz Square. Exit towards rua Senhora (Sra.) da Saúde and Rua fernandes da Fonseca. Once in the square you should have endend up giving your back to Hotel Mundial, and the Castle of St. George walls must be on your right. Take the street that leaves from the oposite corner of the square, called "Calçada dos Cavaleiros". You have to climb all the way up, you know you are on the right road as there are Tram rails on the pavement. There will be a road on your right called Rua da Costa do Castelo, when you get to number 120 you are at Olissippo Castelo. We recomend for a first time that you take a Taxi from the airport to the Hotel.
